About the event
The first ever Wheels Fest/ Art Tour on Sunday, September 15th from 11 am to 4 pm. The festival will be wheely good with unique activities featuring all things mobility. Whether it is a car, bike, skateboard, roller skate, wheelchair, mass transit or a unicycle it will be a celebration of the wheels that moves us. And since we are all about unconventional celebrations or movements, we created this festival to celebrate ...you guessed it ---wheels.
The event will take place on 32nd Street SE from 17th to 19th Avenue which is a great backdrop as the road is surrounded by a colourful mural which stretches the entire length. Obstacle courses, car show, kinetic bikes, scooters, toddler obstacle course, free giveaways including a bike, free bike repair, face painting, buskers, roller skating, vendor booths, scooter demos, and the Tour De Purple. Tour De Purple offers cyclists a insight into the urban design realm and art which makes International Avenue so unique and special. The bike tour starts takes place from 1330-1530. The Art Tour component is being held from 1300-1500 hours and will be part of the Bike Tour and be open to anyone who wishes to walk to as well.
While enjoying International Avenue's Wheel Festival on Sept 15 along 32 St SE from 17 Ave to 19 Ave SE, why not take in some art as well!

JOURNEY TO FREEDOM PARK (2601 17 Ave SE). Members of the Vietnamese Committee will be present to discuss the making of the park and the importance of the Journey to Freedom. 1-2 pm
UNITY PARK (3111-17 Ave SE)
• --- Artist Vahe Tokmajyan talks about his sculpture "Project Dance" and the process he used to create it
• --- Artist Karen Newfeld offers some great activities for kids including Storytime where she will be reading her book Poppy's Pink Polka Dotted Egg
FUSE33 MAKERSPACE (1720 Radisson Drive SE)
OTHER INTERACTIVE ART LOCATIONS ALONG INT AVE
• --- Artist Alexis Saulteaux touches on Indigenous art and tells the tale of the creation of everyone's favourite local purple hippo...Hippo Love!

Each location will have maps where you can take the continued opportunity to go on a self-guided tour art walk of International Avenue and discover over 45 pieces of art!
